Abstrak :-Traditional plants that can be used for treatment and health benefits are the Eugenia leaves which have antimicrobial activity because they have flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin and tannin compounds.
The purpose of this study was to determine the antimicrobial activity of Eugenia leaf extracts with maceration and socletation methods against Malassezia furfur fungi and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by determining the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Inhibitance Width (LDH). The MIC test used delutions methode using jelly media for bacteria and fungi used concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20%, respectively. LDH test was using solid delutions methode with concentrations of 20, 25 and 30%. Positive control used on S. aureus bacteria using Amoxicillin 10 ppm and if M. furfur fungus used positive control of 50 ppm Ketoconazole. The negative control used is aquadest.
The results of this study can be concluded that the 96% ethanol extract of the soccletation method is more effective in S. aureus bacteria and less effective in fungi. Eugenia leaf extract by the socletation method inhibits S. aureus bacteria at a concentration of 30% (mean LDH 5.25 ± 0.125 mm).
