Abstrak :Abstract
Context: There are five types of candida species in oral cavities, two of which are Candida
albicans and Candida tropicalis. Coffee plants produce considerable waste from their
processing, namely in the form of coffee fruit skin or called cascara. Cascara coffee contain
bioactive compounds such as polyphenols that can act as antibiotics.
Aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of 70% ethanol extract of
robusta cascara coffee extracted with MAE and UAE against C. albicans and C. tropicalis
fungi.
Methods: The minimum Inhibition Concentration test by agar dilution was performed at
concentrations of 75, 80, 85, and 90%. The diameter of the Inhibition Zone test by disc
diffusion was performed at 90, 93, 96% concentration on all extracts and test fungi.
