ABSTRACT
Sage is a medicinal plant with high value, which is widely used in traditional medicine because it has antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, fungicidal, viral static, astringent and anti-allergic activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of sage leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using the Microwave Assisted Extraction method. Extraction was carried out using a microwave oven with a power of 800 watts for 8 minutes. Testing the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) on the extract, namely at a concentration of 1.25; 2.5; 5.0; and 10.0%. While the concentrations for the Inhibitory Width test are 10, 20, and 30%. The results showed that sage leaf extract had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The antibacterial activity of sage leaves is at a concentration of 10% extract based on the MIC test. The most effective concentration as an antibacterial was sage leaf extract with a concentration of 30% based on the LDH test with an inhibitory diameter of 13.46 mm which was categorized as very strong.
