Burns can result tissue destruction so the skin becomes damaged (Kairupan et al., 2015).
According to Sanjayasari and Wiranda (2011), the results of phytochemical screening of
katuk leaf extract qualitatively contain alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin and saponin compounds.
This research was conducted to determine the activity of katuk leaf extract in healing burns in
male white Sprague Dawley rats. The treatment group consisted of 5 groups, namely P1 (K-)
only given distilled water, P2 (K+) given betadine, and katuk leaf extract concentrations P3
(7.5%), P4 (10%) and P5 (12.5%) with by instilling 0.25 mL with each group consisting of 5
repetitions. The diameter of the burn wound was measured using a caliper and visually
observing the condition of the wound at intervals of three days, starting on days 1, 4, 7, 10,
13, and 16. The results of the study showed that katuk leaf extract had activity in healing burn
wounds in mice. White male Sprague Dawley and the most optimal activity of katuk leaf
extract in healing burns in white male Sprague Dawley rats is at a concentration of 12.5%
(P5) with a long time of administration of katuk leaf extract, namely 16 days.
